This super sweet tastes makes us want MORE sweet foods and literally changes our taste buds so that natural foods do not taste as good!

Why is Our Sweet Tooth Getting Turbo Charged?

High Fructose Corn Syrup has a much sweeter taste then white sugar, and/or many other natural sweeteners such as raw honey, agave, date sugar, coconut sugar or maple syrup. Therefore, since it is being put into literally EVERYTHING we eat including cereal, breads, coffee syrups, ketchup, b-bque sauce, mayo, salad dressing, snack bars, applesauce, canned fruit, frozen dinners, baked goods, baby food, pasta sauces………..our tastes buds are actually wanting things to be sweeter than we use to.

If you don’t believe me? Just taste a processed cookie like an Oreo, and then bake a regular home made cookie. Even if you use bake with white refined sugar versus natural sweeteners you will notice the difference how much sweeter the cookie is made with high fructose corn syrup is. If you start baking with healthy sweeteners you will notice an even bigger difference in the taste.

So What …. You Might Ask?

What is the big deal if we like things sweeter than we used to?

The problem is with an increased sweet tooth, comes an increased craving to have more and more of that sweet, strong taste. The same is true with salt.

If you have an out of control sweet tooth, then your body can no longer taste the sweet taste of a carrot in your salad or a sweet potato for dinner.

People who start putting extra salt on their food start increasing what they need to sustain that same salty taste. Before they know it they are eating more salt then is healthy to do. This makes them eat MORE food then they need, which makes them gain weight and get fat!

The same is true with the “sweet taste.” Once you develop super power sweet tooth, anything that is not turbo strength sweet will not taste as good. That means that the taste of natural sweetness like FRUIT will literally not be as yummy, rich and delicious.

I believe that this could be why some kids like fruit and others don’t.

Test Your Sweet Tooth And See If You Enjoy Eating Healthy Foods More

If you don’t believe me, then test it. The great news is that your taste buds can change quickly, even after a few weeks.

For this experiment, bake one of my healthy cookies or healthy muffins and put them in the freezer. Pull out these cookies and muffins every day to satisfy your sweet tooth, and don’t eat ANY processed foods that have salt and high fructose corn syrup in them.

Then after two weeks, notice if natural foods are tasting better and are more satisfying. See if you have lost weight. See if you feel like you have more energy and feel better. So if you are not getting sluggish in the middle of the day …………You will be amazed.
