Editorial Standards

Last updated October 3, 2026

These are the standards we hold ourselves to when we write, update and recommend. They describe our commitments; they do not claim that every article has been reviewed by an outside expert.

1. Information, not medical advice

Everything on this site is general information. It does not replace advice from your doctor, midwife, pediatrician, dietitian or other qualified professional. We do not diagnose conditions or promise outcomes, and we never suggest stopping prescribed medication.

2. Sources for health claims

When an article makes a material health claim, we aim to link to a primary or authoritative source: for example the NHS, CDC, MedlinePlus, NIH, WHO, professional bodies and peer-reviewed research. Where evidence is limited or guidance differs between countries, we say so.

3. No miracle claims

We avoid claims about cures, “detoxing”, prevention of disease or guaranteed results, and we do not present supplements as a substitute for medical care. We try not to use fear to get attention.

4. Dates and updates

Articles show when they were published. When we materially update an article, we show the update date and, where useful, what changed.

5. Expert review

We only describe an article as reviewed by a qualified professional if a named, qualified person has actually reviewed it, and we will name them. Unless an article says so, it has not had that kind of review.

6. Corrections

If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the contact page. We will check it, fix errors promptly and note significant corrections.

7. Commercial independence

Some articles contain affiliate links. We disclose them at the start of the article and next to product links, and we explain our approach in how we choose products and the affiliate disclosure. Recommendations are not paid placements.

8. Images

Photographs are from sources that allow free use, such as Unsplash, Pexels and Pixabay, and we keep a record of each source and licence. A stock photo never means we tested the product shown.
